Directing Projects

OK, so I'm back at University for a two week rehearsal schedule before classes reopen. We are rehearsing for 4Th year directing projects. This is a "subject" that 4Th years have where they are given the task to use a scene with music and choreography (if they want to) from a known musical. We have a performance class every Friday where they will present their projects and get marked on.

The 4the years are allowed to use any of the other Musical Theater students in the department regardless of their age. I am only in one project, but we have 3d year directing projects as well and in that I have 3 projects. It is an amazing learning process and so much fun. You really get to see how directors work and what is needed from you as a cast member.

I still feel a little bit unsure sometimes, but i guess that's how you start out and I just need to get used to it.

I only have one more rehearsal today then it's back to the commune where I live. Will be chilling and reading the rest of the day :)

Starting out...

So this is my first attempt at writing a blog. I wanted to share my struggles and success stories while being a first year Musical Theater student, in South Africa. I'm currently studying at the Tshwane University of Technology in the Performing Arts Department...

We've finished our first semester, and WOW. It has been a rollercoast from the start! I enjoy it so much, even though I started out with a bit of doubt. You grow and learn to love the challenges... I'm currently on 2 weeks break, before we start with rehearsals again(more on that later:) )

I'll try and update on my blog at least once a day. So if anyone shares my same interests and "their own way to the top" I encourage you to comment and share your journey!

MT STUDENT OUT!!
